Throughout October, The Keller Group asked our LinkedIn community of professionals, job seekers, and employers to weigh in on the trends shaping today’s workplace. From career goals to company culture, the results offer a quick snapshot of what’s top of mind for today’s workforce. Here’s a recap of what your votes revealed:
Top Career Priorities
When asked about current career or hiring priorities, an overwhelming 72% of responses said their main focus right now is accepting a new role. This trend mirrors what our Phoenix-based recruiters are seeing every day - an active job market where professionals are ready for change and open to new opportunities that align with their values and career goals. We’re here to support our candidates and clients and find the right fit for everyone. Learn more about how The Keller Group stands out in the Phoenix job market.
What Keeps People at Their Company
When it comes to overall employee retention, culture and leadership took the top spot, earning 37% of the votes, following close behind was work-life balance at 30%. Compensation and benefits, while still important, came in third.
For recruiting agencies in Phoenix like The Keller Group, this reinforces that salary alone isn’t enough to keep great talent. Strong leadership, clear communication, and a supportive company culture remain the deciding factors for long-term employee engagement and retention.
How We Work: Remote vs. Hybrid
October’s most-voted-on poll of the month asked professionals which work setup helps them thrive best. The results? 43% prefer fully remote work, while 38% favor hybrid work schedules. These numbers reflect the continued evolution of workplace expectations. Flexibility is no longer a perk - it’s a priority. Our team of executive recruiters continue seeing clients adjusting job structures to attract top talent who value balance and autonomy.
The Scariest Part of the Job Search
Just in time for Halloween, our final October poll asked: “What’s the scariest part of your job search?” The clear winner (or fright) was getting ghosted after interviews, with 58%. Candidates shared frustration with a lack of feedback during the hiring process - a reminder that communication and transparency are key differentiators for employers hoping to stand out in a competitive market.
